![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Wize Wize Beasts is definitely different from what I usually read, but I wound up liking it a lot more than I thought in the end. Her style of art is truly unique among mangaka and I was looking forward to something different I could sink my teeth into. When it was first announced, I wasn’t quite sure what to think, but I’ve been a major fan of Nagabe and The Girl from the Other Side since volume one, following it almost religiously. It’s a single volume work that combines a multitude of stories that all take place in one universe populated by anthropomorphic animals studying magic. The Wize Wize Beasts of the Wizarding Wizdoms is a manga written and created by Nagabe who you may know as the creator behind The Girl from the Other Side. Do you like furries? Harry Potter? Boys Love? Then boy do I have the manga for you. ![]() Halo by Alexandra Adornetto6/8/2023 ![]() ![]() Three angels enter the town of Venus Cove to protect it and preform good deeds as the town is slowly being taken over by the "dark side." I really really really liked this very relevant series and give it my highest reccomendation if you're into MM erotic romance, second chances, and honest living. After listening to the first book, I immediately bought the second and listened to it non-stop. There are a number of twists and turns in the story as Kensey works hard for sobriety, health, and living authentically as an "out" gay man. The relationship that develops between Kensey's trainer, Benoni, and himself is incredibly erotic. When he leaves rehab and comes out to his wife, he had no one to support him except his sponsor, and eventually his trainer at the gym who works with him to improve his body. At great cost Kensey hits bottom losing his job, family, and friends. As an ER doctor, he finds escape in being a workaholic, and, becoming addicted to Percocet and Oxycodone smooths out internal pain and guilt. He's learned to set aside his personal needs in an effort to please his parents, his wife, his children, and essentially everyone in his life. Kensey loves his two children, and doesn't want to hurt his wife even though he told her before they were married that he had yearnings for men. The trauma Kensey suffered in his parent's evangelical church by trying to deny his sexuality and "pray away" homosexual yearnings caused him to marry a woman, have two children, and live over 30 years slowly dying inside with misery. Nora Phoenix has written a romantic, touching, and sexy two book series. ![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you for being so excited! I’m excited, too!!!! Hodge himself noted these "rampant immaturities" in a recent blog post about an upcoming updated reprint. Guilelessness is simply not to my taste at all (perhaps if I'd read it when I was a teenager). Hodge's tone is eager and earnest tinged with an adolescent cynicism. Dark Advent is not overly bad it's actually overly nice, if that makes any sense. ![]() ![]() The story moves along all right as Hodge introduces his large cast of survivors, but by the halfway mark I just couldn't take it anymore and really skimmed over the rest. You got your germ "warfare" gone wrong, the inadvertent regular-guy heroes and opportunistic bad guys, and large-scale horror setpieces as a flawed and violent humanity struggles to rebuild after the unthinkable happens. Cursed-or blessed-with a demonic kids-in-peril stepback cover, the post-apocalyptic horror novel Dark Advent from Pinnacle Books is a passably okay work, Brian Hodge's minor-league version of The Stand (1978), Alas, Babylon (1959), or Swan Song (1987). ![]() ![]() ![]() This story begins with her quest to make books so she can live surrounded by them!ĭive into this biblio-fantasy written for book lovers and bookworms!Īscendance of a Bookworm, Part 1 Vol #1, Myne resolves herself: If there aren't any books, she'll just have to make them!
